How Can We Teach Wellness

I received a thought-provoking comment on my last post, Authentic Wellness Starts Within.

The comment was, “The real question for wellness service providers is, How can we teach?”

Here’s my short answer: teaching wellness is not a complicated step. The real work lies in practicing what we know and transforming that knowledge into authentic daily living. Those last two steps, practice and embodiment, are the hardest yet the most essential. They are often overlooked because everyone is rushing toward the next best thing, unwilling to take time.

Wellness must live within a person every single day in order to extend outward.

As Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

We can guide and provide tools to wellness professionals, but true embodiment happens only through consistent practice until it becomes a natural way of being.

Sometimes that means stepping back from building or doing for a month, a year, even ten. Only then can we begin building again, aligned with how we live. While that transformation unfolds, we offer support through our knowledge, tools, and presence, holding space with patience and intention.

The truth is, the energy we carry inside extends into everything we create, our businesses, hotels, and programs. Many businesses look beautiful on the outside, yet beneath the surface lies toxicity that is hard to ignore.

I know this personally. I spent a decade as a professional dancer, performing in front of thousands. From the outside, it looked flawless. But inside, I carried deep physical, emotional, and mental pain.

Hospitality is no different.

Today, many big brands are rushing to “rebrand” to wellness. Stop. Pause. There is no need to chase another dollar or traveler. You cannot fool a true wellness traveler, you only fool yourself.

Just as my performances gave the illusion of beauty while I unwell within, many hotels and practitioners present a refined exterior while overlooking their inner wellbeing.

Taking time to understand yourself is essential. Pause. Find your center, your heart, your humility. Ask for help. Learn. Discover what wellness truly means to you, and only then begin creating the next version of your business.

So, how do we teach wellness?

We advocate for wellbeing. We provide tools and knowledge. We foster education, meaningful connection, heart-opening conversation, and honesty. We provide space for practice and transformation with wisdom, compassion, and kindness, and most importantly, we model wellness through authentic living, never settling for anything less.

When we truly deliver wellness, ROI follows naturally. Business models are shifting, maybe not for all, but certainly for many of us.

Let’s begin learning, practicing, and embodying wellbeing, and then build the next authentic level of wellness for hospitality, travel, and the world.
